I build apps for the pleasure of it, and the best ones start with somebody's real itch. Answer these honestly — the questions are designed to get to the bottom of what you actually want, which is usually a bit different from the first sentence that comes to mind.

What should it do?

One or two sentences, as if you were telling a friend. Don't worry about features yet.

What's the moment that made you want it?

The last time you thought "why is there no app for this" — where were you, and what were you trying to get done?

How do you handle it today?

Paper, a spreadsheet, a rival app you don't like, or nothing at all — and what's wrong with that?

Who else would use it?

Just you is a perfectly good answer — it tells me to build small and personal rather than general.

What's the one thing it must get right?

If the app did only this one thing brilliantly and nothing else, you'd still use it.
